Weleda uses distilled and deionized water. Distilled water has been boiled and the steam has condensed, yielding pure, uncontaminated water.

Alcohol is another term for ethanol or ethyl alcohol. In manufacturing plant extracts contained in Weleda's products, mixtures of alcohol and water are used as extraction agents in some formulations. The consistency and stability of natural cosmetic products are improved by alcohol.

Sodium Chloride is used as an adjuvant in the production of cosmetic products, such as soap production. In emulsions, Sodium Chloride has a product-stabilizing and skin-soothing effect.

Citric Acid is an organic fruit acid and is used in low concentrations in the emulsions to stabilize the pH-value.

Glyceryl Caprylate is a co-emulsifier that is mainly used to stabilize O/W-emulsions (oil-in-water-emulsions) and is produced from various vegetable oils. Glyceryl Caprylate also restores the oils of the skin, regulates the skin moisture and acts as a humidifier to the skin.
