Skin In Motion

This week challenges you to get moving and be active. But you also have a chance to reward yourself for all of the amazing work you've been doing for your mind, body and soul. Exercise doesn’t just strengthen the muscles, it speeds the detoxification process and increases blood flow to the skin. Exercising outdoors makes your exercise even more effective and satisfying. If you already have a practice that works for you, make this week about adding a morning walk in nature (or as close as you can get to it) every day. The exposure to sunlight in the morning makes you more awake and alert and increases your intake of vitamin D.

Day 22: Treat Yourself

We all need a treat now and then and at this point, you’ve earned it. Indulge in some dark chocolate, which is high in free radical-fighting antioxidants that are beneficial to your skin.

Be sure your confection contains at least 70% cocoa to reap the full benefits. Dark chocolate has been shown to lower the stress hormone, cortisol, raise serotonin levels and lower inflammation. All good news to keep you looking and feeling healthy inside and out.

Day 23: Get Moving

Getting sweaty, whichever way you choose to do it, will help make your skin care routine be even more effective. Cardio improves circulation which carries nutrients, oxygen, and beneficial hormones throughout the body faster, including the skin.

Strength training helps regulate the body’s anti-inflammatory responses. Sign-up for a workout class you’ve been curious about, go for a run or practice yoga. Day 24: Keep Going, You're Almost There!

Check-in on your progress. Observe your skin and how you feel. Stay motivated and continue your Weleda skin care routine.

Day 26: Digital Detox

Excessive screen usage is not only tied to increased depression and anxiety, but the blue light they emit has been linked to photodamage that leads to fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and loss of firmness. Disconnect for at least an hour today.

Aim for the whole day if possible. Unplug from your phone, computer or any binge-watching for at least an hour to recharge mentally. Instead of spending time focused on a screen make an effort today to experience your day connected to the people and places you encounter. Day 27: Reflect & Relax

Approaching your self care in a mindful manner, by focusing on the present rather than past mistakes or expectations for the future, will help you make the changes you need for well being, inside and out.

Take some time to reground yourself with a few deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling for a minute. Stress and tension take a toll on your skin and body. Let these go. Be present with your harmonizing intentions in that moment and throughout your day.
